Job title:

Judo Coach

Wage:

$15 - $30 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours:

Part time: 8-10 hours per week (4-9pm; mon/wed) & occasional weekend tournaments

Location:

Simon Fraser University, Education Building (Gym), 766 Arts Rd, Burnaby, BC V5A 0A9.

Start Date:

As soon as possible

Purpose of the position

We are looking for new coaches to join our team. We are specifically looking for judo coaches who can work evenings (Monday and Wednesday).

This position is perfect for someone looking for part time hours (in school, working alongside another job etc.).

A successful candidate will begin as an assistant coach with the opportunity to become the main coach for the classes.

Key responsibilities & duties

  • Help coach our kids and adult judo classes.

  • Work with the team to develop syllabuses for the different classes

  • Prepare lesson plans

  • Coach the students in tournaments

Requirements

  • NCCP Dojo Instructor Certification

  • Language: English

  • Physically fit and able to work 4+ hours per day

  • Reliable and able to commit to schedules

  • Able to provide own transportation

Work experience & skills

  • 1 year coaching kids (an asset)

  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality who enjoys working with different ages.

  • Confident communicator who is able to get on the people's level and encourage and support them to achieve their potential

  • Ability to use initiative to identify and meet each individual’s needs
